Paramouont+ has responded to the reports of Yellowstone with Kevin Costner reaching its end. It was reported by Deadline on Monday that the series creator Taylor Sheridan plans to end the series and will be moving some of the star cast over to its spin-off series.
The situation apparently developed because the series lead, Costner, wishes to spend only a week filming the scenes for the second half of the fifth season to accommodate his own project Horizon – a proposal which was ultimately rejected by Paramount.
Sheridan is said to have started working on a companion show that would feature Matthew McConaughey in the lead.
The streaming giant has refrained from commenting on the reports of Yellowstone being cancelled but has stressed that Costner remains involved in the fifth season.
The news of Yellowstone reaching its end is for sure to surprise the fans as one of its actor Wes Bentley recently spoke out about how Sheridan had a long-running plan for the ends of the series. A spokesperson stated, “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the cause for a long time to come.”
It was only last week that the streaming network confirmed the renewal of Yellowstone prequel series 1923 for its second season. It already had success with even earlier prequel 1883.
Yellowstone is expected to return with the second part of season fifth on Paramount+ later this year.
