Squid Game: Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk in talks with Netflix for third season of South Korean thrill series
Looking at the buzz Squid Game has created all over the world, it is no surprise that it has bagged renewal at Netflix. However, will the series have season 3?
It has been confirmed long back that Squid Game will be returning with its second installment. However, its still a long road for us to wait as it won’t be releasing anytime before the fall of 2024. The filming for the upcoming season is set to begin this summer and will go on for at least next ten months.
The series, created and written by Hwang Dong-hyuk is a South Korean Netflix Original thriller, which has turned out to be the most popular show from the country since Kingdom and Crash Landing On You.
We guessed that Squid Game would be popular but we did not see it becoming the worldwide phenomenon it now is. It is officially Netflix’s most successful Original ever.
Squid Game to get a third season?
In an interview with Korea Times, Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that he has been in discussion with the officials at Netflix for second and third season of Squid Game.
This comes as a surprise because the creator was reluctant for going ahead with season 2 of Squid Game. We assume that going ahead with the story must have sparked some new ideas into his creative mind.
The renewal of Squid Game for season two was no surprise as they we all saw the effect it had on its viewers and the phenomenon it turned out to be. The series trended in the top 10 list of 94 countries around the world.
