Starz announces Spartacus sequel series is under development

Starz’s best and most beloved series Spartacus is returning to the screens with its sequel.

Starz has made it official that a new series is under development which will expand the universe of its most beloved and groundbreaking series Spartacus. The series will feature the characters of the original show and will explore the potential which was left unattended in the original four-season series. Steven S. DeKnight will also be returning as executive producer and showrunner for the new series.

The new series promises a tale of blood, deceit, and treachery as it unravels the dark underbelly of Rome. The plot has been set in the time of  Spartacus’s defeat at the hands of Marcus Crassus and the Roman army. While the official synopsis is not yet revealed by the network, it is certain that a new lead is to come forward post the death of Spartacus at the end of original series.

The original series featured Adam Whitfield and later Liam McIntyre in the lead role of Spartacus. The series also featured Lucy Lawless, Manu Bennett, Katrina Law, Peter Mensah, Viva Biance, and Dustin Clare among others. There has been no update regarding the cast of the new series.

It will have massive shows, or sandals in this case, to be filled as to proves oneself as Spartacus.

The series will be produced by Lionsgate Television for Starz with Executive Vice President or Original Programming Karen Bailey and Directors of Original Programming Giovanna Desselle and Alex Alberts overseeing the network.
