The Walking Dead may have ended but the drama revolving the zombies still alive at AMC. The franchise is getting two more spinoff series, one of which is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Another spinoff series is in development which will focus on Maggie and Negan from the flagship series.
Maggie and Negan, two unlikely friends will head to New York City for their spinoff series The Walking Dead: Dead City. For the unversed, Negan had cracked open Maggie’s husband Glenn’s head during The Walking Dead with a baseball bat. What would Glenn have to say on Maggie vacationing with Negan?
When will The Walking Dead: Dead City release?
While there is no exact date regarding the release of spinoff, it is certain that it will release before The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which is scheduled for second half of 2023. Considering this, the Maggie and Negan is expected to hit the network by July 2023.
What storyline to expect from The Walking Dead: Dead City?
The thought of Maggie teaming up with the killer of her husband is as absurd as it sounds but sometimes you have to bite the bullet looking at the bigger picture. Lauren Cohan’s Maggie is on the mission to find her missing son, Hershel, and she’s forced to work with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s bat-swinging Negan as she goes on to the mean streets of post-apocalyptic New York City. This is not the Walking Dead we know, even if there are few similar faces.
How The Walking Dead: Dead City is different from The Walking Dead?
Gimple explained that the main difference between the two series is that The Walking Dead is an ensemble of characters while its spinoff series will focus only on two characters. He added that it is easier to tell their stories deeply when they are not much of important characters.
Negan and Maggie are out of the wood after many years and they have no idea how claustrophobic a city like New York can be. There are zombies falling from the sky, and things are very much not pleasant.
